Creating Impact with Backsplash

A quality backsplash is functionally and aesthetically necessary for a well designed kitchen. It’s also a great way to add a splash of personality to the space! Backsplashes are able to blend in and let other design elements shine, make a statement, or even somewhere in between. There are a lot of options out there, so here are a few ways to create an impact with whatever style of backsplash you choose.

Single slab quartz from the counter to ceiling Minimalist yet impactful, single slab quartz that runs from the counter to the backsplash is a tried and true favorite. It’s simple, sleek, and incredibly easy to clean! My favorite place to source quartz for a project like this is of course Cambria.

Continuing the stone onto the range hood

Sometimes what’s best for kitchens, especially small ones, is to hide appliances in order to keep a nice visual flow. One way to do that is to cover the range hood with the same material as the backsplash.

For something more maximalist, embellish the range hood with a different tile that compliments the backsplash.

Open shelving design

This is another design trick that I love using for smaller spaces. Swapping cabinets for open shelving saves on money and space, and gives you the opportunity to make the backsplash a focal point. I love these examples from TileBar.

Incorporating decorative lighting within the backsplash

I always try to add a variety of lighting in each room and this is a great way to do that in the kitchen. This could be as simple as installing lights under the cabinets to allow the backsplash to stand out.

Or source light fixtures to compliment whatever backsplash you choose!

It’s no surprise that I love the use of stone and tile to create impact in a room, and choosing a backsplash is just that! The kitchen is the heart of the home so always make choices that reflect you and your needs, and no matter what that will create an impact.
