This week in March marks exactly one year since New York City and much of the country completely shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic. Restaurants and gyms locked their doors, offices instructed employees to work from home indefinitely, and many sought secluded safety in second homes upstate and out east. With so much uncertainty, one thing was clear – our world had changed forever.
The New Normal
One year later, we are beginning to see glimpses of hope as the city and country slowly come back to life – back to “normal” or perhaps what we might consider “the new normal”. As businesses begin to reopen in Manhattan, I anticipate seeing an increased demand for studio and 1-bedroom pied-à-terre apartments. These compact living spaces are perfect for professionals returning to the city on a part-time basis who need a comfortable, self-contained home-away-from-home to crash one or two days a week, two to three times a month.
The Need for Simplicity
New renters and purchasers are all looking for one thing in common – simplicity! Imagine moving into a hotel-like space where all you really need to bring is an overnight bag. Sounds pretty seamless, right? That’s where Turn-Key Interiors come in handy: we do the hard work – all you have to do is “turn the key”.
Inspiration for this new service was born when I helped set up a temporary apartment for a young professional couple coming to New York for a five-month stay. I immediately saw the immense value in making the move-in process as easy as possible for clients returning to the city. Busy professionals have never worked harder and the last thing they need is to add “decorate and furnish new apartment” to their never-ending to-do list.
Our Upper West Side Turn-Key Interior
This recent Upper West Side project is the perfect example of our new Turn-Key Service in action. The job commenced when the couple referenced above reached out for a short-term rental for a temporary job relocation. We got their new home set up and ready for move-in with comprehensive turn-key services in under a month. We assisted them in selecting and organizing delivery of rental furniture and area rugs, equipping the kitchen and bathroom with high-quality essentials, and fully preparing the spaces with linens, lighting, and decorative elements to ensure their comfortable and enjoyable stay in the city.
