Deck the Halls with Feng Shui Décor

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The holiday season presents a very special opportunity to showcase our homes while hosting family and friends.

Holiday décor is traditionally a mixture of reds (representing the Fire Element) and greens (representing the Wood Element). However, overemphasizing these elements can often leave us feeling energetically unbalanced. Too much Fire can burn up your personal energy; and an excess of Wood can cause unnecessary arguments and fierce tempers.

This festive season, consider balancing the 5 Feng Shui elements evenly through holiday décor:

Metal: The Metal Element affects mental clarity and logic. It can be represented through holiday décor by integrating metal ornaments, instruments, napkin rings, gold table runners, sleds and a train set. Even white flowers will do the trick!

Water: Water’s domain is emotions and spirituality. In the winter, water turns to ice. Represent the Water Element through snowflakes, clear glass balls, a well-dressed snowman and snow-globes.

Earth: Earth affects physical strength and order while generating an overall feeling of grounding, balance and stability. Represent the Earth Element with a fresh fruit basket, centerpiece containing soil, or decorations made from crystals, marble or stone. The square/cube shape of presents under the tree also represent Earth!

Fire: The triangular shape of your Christmas Tree represents the Fire Element. Decorating with Christmas lights, stars, red poinsettias, reindeers (or other animals) and candles further enhance the Fire Element.

Wood: Wood harnesses the power of creativity and expansion while representing traits like growth, birth, strength, flexibility and intuition. Wood décor includes all living plants and all things green. Holly, a Hanukah Bush, Christmas Tree or wreath, rosemary topiary and inherited decorations will all enhance the Wood Element.

Deck the halls with balanced Feng Shui elements and enjoy the harmony it brings to your home.

Happy Holidays from our family to yours!
