LIVING IN PLACE
KITCHEN / DINING ROOM
White traditional kitchen re-fresh.
White traditional kitchen re-fresh.
To modernize the kitchen, the existing kitchen cabinetry was re-painted in a white satin finish and new black hardware was installed. Corner cabinet was removed and in its place is a new Bosch dishwasher. We preserved the peninsula's butcher block counter-top and painted the base cabinetry in a bold aqua color to coordinate with the glass globe pendants.
The client wanted to preserve the butcher block peninsula and add the Cambria on the perimeter counter. The old counter-top and the new counter-top butting up beside one another.
Black contemporary kitchen hardware to contrast off the white flat panel cabinetry.
Blue glass globes hang centered in the petite kitchen.
An introduction of greenery in the center of the table with flanking votives. Simple and manageable, a perfect everyday centerpiece.
When working with small spaces, especially a galley kitchen it is important to achieve a nice proportion of light and dark elements. A dark porcelain floor was selected for its functional and maintenance free properties. Conscious of the fact that we didn't want to create a visually small space by adding more dark components, white shaker style cabinets were selected, along with white appliances and white stone counter top.
In order to create a design connection to the floor and create some visual interest, a black linear strip of tile runs along the back-splash with a field of white 3x6 tile.
A great way to make your galley kitchen feel less heavy is by adding clear glass panels to the upper cabinetry. Glass's reflective property will help lighten up the space. It also gives an opportunity to display.
Functional pieces are essential to any kitchen. Pull out sprayer faucet is positioned justified left of the sink to allow for a wider undermount sink. Maximize the counter space, use every inch possible.
Adding to the minimalist qualities of a kitchen a simple linear cabinet hardware is installed. Brushed in finish to be maintenance free.
Darker toned accent wall brings visual interest to the entry foyer.
With a cool neutral tone on the wall the Scandinavian inspired furnishings bring a pop of color and life with brilliant colors of blue and green upholstery.
A clean transitional design in this galley kitchen optimizes storage and functionality.
A contrast of rich warm tones of the cabinetry to the cool finishes of the granite and metal.
Cool tones coordinate from granite counter top to metal back-splash
I have had the opportunity to work with Julie twice and both times have been excellent with outstanding
results. The first project over 10 years ago was more of an update to an old apartment (paint, wallpaper,
kitchen island). The one just completed was a gut renovation which involved her not only helping to
design a new wall and each room's layout but then assisting with selecting colors, paints, wallpaper,
appliances, lighting, cabinets, hardware, etc. She always listens to my ideas and wishes but
guides/suggests other options that could also be considered (and hers are often much better than my
original thoughts which I greatly appreciate!). She is a true professional in all her dealings with me,
vendors, construction teams and an outstanding project manager coordinating every aspect of the job.
This project was done with me 1500 miles away and everything came out as desired. Julie is an easy
person to communicate with and quickly responds to any questions throughout the process along with
walkthrough video updates. I highly recommend her!!
